Job Description – Research and Development Engineer
As a Research & Development Engineer, you will directly be working with the founder (Electronic and Electrical Engineer) and Co-Founder (Computer Scientist) to research, experiment, innovate, design and develop products from requirements/ideas. You will be expected to flex your technical and creative muscles to develop specialized consumer products defining the future of high street retail shopping (such as smart wearables, smart checkouts etc) which will compliment our flagship e-commerce mobile app, ‘Planckly’. While the nature of the Job may demand that you engage yourself in any relevant task related to product design and development, as a minimum you will be:
- Able to conceive working designs from product ideas or requirements to the final product;
- Documenting and reporting on your research, experiments, designs and prototypes while also protecting Company’s Intellectual Property
- Assessing product requirements, including costs, manufacturing feasibility and market requirements;
- Working with our manufacturing partners in China negotiating price, timeline and technical configurations;
- Working with electronic and computer engineers in designing concepts for our future products;
- Using design tools (SolidWorks) and machines (3D printers, CNC, etc.) for prototyping,testing and modifying design if necessary;
- Researching new product ideas utilizing the power of Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence

| Possess a Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Product Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering | Have studied electronics or software |
| Have lived/experience of working in SouthEast Asia | Willing to travel to Cambodia for product launch/demo |
| Experience of working in diverse teams | Experience of working in Business/Sales/Finance function |
| Excellent presentational, persuasive and negotiating skills | Can speak and listen Arabic/Urdu/Hindi/French |
| Experience of preparing budgets, timescales and specifications of multiple projects | Experience in designing consumer products |
| Good understanding of safe, reliable and efficient engineering | Creative thinker and problem solver |
